The IBM Domino mail server supports not only the Notes Client: For quite some time Domino has already supported several other mail clients. Now, Microsoft Outlook is one of them. The “IBM Mail Support for Microsoft Outlook” (IMSMO) supports the ActiveSync communication protocol which is available since Outlook 2013.
IMSMO allows you to use Outlook as mail client and thus replaces your Lotus Notes client. If you have been using other important applications in the Notes Client, you can continue to use these in your web browser and on mobile devices with aveedo.
IMSMO is especially handy for the harmonization of the email infrastructure between companies and their affiliated companies, which do not use IBM Domino but Exchange / Outlook. With IMSMO a simple and secure communication between Domino-users and Outlook-users can be guaranteed and Exchange is no longer needed.
Another advantage is the seamless use of the calendar for scheduling meetings and events across both clients. Furthermore, IBM Mail Support for Microsoft Outlook supports all security and encryption features of the Domino Server. For example, if emails are encrypted so that only selected recipients can actually read them, this setting survives in the Outlook client.
We4IT already has practical project experience with IMSMO and is able to provide advise and consulting regarding possible use cases as well as to provide support for the implementation of IMSMO. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
